Unquestionably, air conditioning systems offer a wide array of benefits. These systems keep you cool during summer and filter out all impurities from the air. Nevertheless, installing an air conditioning system is not a walk in the park. There are several steps involved in AC installation. Let’s look at them in this article.
The first thing to do when installing your air conditioning system is to select a suitable location. Find a central area in your room to mount the unit. Note that you will have to drill a hole on the surface. So, choose a location that allows for this. It would be best to select a location facing away from sunlight.
Take your mounting plate and place it against your wall on the area you plan to install your air conditioning unit. At this point, it would be best to use a level to make sure the plate is even on both sides. Mark the locations where you plan to create holes for the screws. Drill the holes in the marked areas.
Make a circular 3 in (7.6 cm) opening using a saw at the center of the prepped surface. This opening is responsible for facilitating proper drainage. Before you create the opening, ensure there are no wires behind the wall.
Remove the cover of the air conditioning system’s control panel and lift it. At this point, ensure that all the wires get connected to the screw terminals. Also, the wiring should match the one drawn on the instruction manual.
The next step is to install all the wires in the hole. Install the power cable, copper pipes, and drain pipe. The drain pipe should stay at the bottom to facilitate a continuous flow of water. Put up these pipes according to the guidelines indicated in the instruction manual. Every cable is often insulated. Thus, you need not worry about safety. try your level best to prevent bending and curling of the pipes as you install them. Moreover, the drainpipe should direct water to a safe place.
Once you install all these lines, attach the unit to the wall. Ensure the unit is firmly secured on the wall. Tilt the unit slightly to ensure excess water flows out of the drain pipe. At this stage, you will need someone to help you hold the unit.
Remember the opening your drilled on the mounting plate? Put up the outdoor condenser here so that you can easily connect the cable and the piping. Ensure the area around the condenser is spacious enough to foster proper functioning. It would be best to select a sheltered location that is free from harsh external conditions.
When installing the outdoor unit, don’t place it directly on the ground. Otherwise, it can get damaged. Place a concrete pad underneath the outdoor unit. Ensure it stays flat, firm, and even on the ground. Afterward, place a rubber cushion on the concrete pad to prevent vibration. Use bolts to secure the outdoor unit on the concrete pad.
Examine the electrical wiring and see whether it’s in good condition. Make any necessary adjustments. Afterward, join the piping and cables to the outdoor unit.
When you complete the AC installation, check whether all valves and joints are in perfect condition by turning on the vacuum. After evaluation, switch off the vacuum. During this stage, use clamps to secure the pipes and cables firmly. Ensure you read and understand all the manufacturer’s guidelines regarding this.
After ensuring everything is in perfect condition, use polyurethane form to close the hole you drilled through the mounting plate. Doing this protects your wiring from damage. As a result, you’ll boost the longevity of your air conditioning system. Allow the polyurethane to dry before testing the unit. Then, switch on the air conditioner to see whether everything is running well. The air conditioner should start releasing cool air immediately after two minutes.
